A small medieval wool town that stayed largely unspoilt, its streets and cottages gathered around the church of St Peter and St Paul — one of the finest of the Cotswold ‘wool churches’, paid for out of fleece money. The Wheatsheaf Inn is a well-known dining pub here. Off the main roads, and quieter for it.
