The largest of the Wychwood villages, Shipton spreads round a broad green with a fine church at one corner and the Shaven Crown at another — a stone inn that began in the 14th century as a hospice tied to Bruern Abbey. Milton and Ascott are its smaller neighbours up the valley. The village has its own station on the Cotswold Line.
