Often called Cheshire’s prettiest village, Great Budworth is a tight climb of red-brick and timbered cottages up to St Mary’s church, kept largely unspoilt as an old estate village. There’s a good traditional pub, the George and Dragon, and views out over the plain and Budworth Mere. Marbury Country Park sits on the far shore of the mere. Northwich station is about 4km to the south.
