Bluebell Cottage Gardens is a two-acre plantsman’s garden and nursery down a quiet lane at Dutton, crammed with hardy perennials and backed by the bluebell woods it takes its name from. It’s at its best in late spring and summer, and opens seasonally, so check the dates before setting off. There’s an admission charge. Acton Bridge station is about 4km to the south-east.
