The George & Dragon stands at the top of Great Budworth, one of Cheshire’s prettiest estate villages, shaped by the Egerton-Warburtons of Arley Hall in Victorian times. The architect John Douglas remodelled the old inn for them in 1875, and it still anchors the sloping street of brick and timber cottages. A cosy base for exploring the lanes north of Northwich.
