St Oswald’s at Lower Peover is one of the rare timber-framed medieval churches of the north-west, its black-and-white nave and aisles built around ancient oak piers. The sandstone west tower was added in 1582. Usually open, and The Bells of Peover, a lovely old pub, is right beside it. Plumley station is about 2km to the north-west.
