The giant Lovell Telescope dominates Jodrell Bank, a 76-metre steerable dish built in 1957 and still used for radio astronomy today. The site was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019 for its part in the history of radio astronomy. The Discovery Centre, open Tuesday to Sunday, has hands-on exhibitions, a café looking straight out at the dish, and an arboretum to wander. Goostrey is the nearest station, around 2km away, and the village of Goostrey is close by.
