Elterwater is a small Langdale village set around a green and the much-loved Britannia Inn. From here a riverside path follows Great Langdale Beck down to Elter Water — the little lake the village is named for — and then the Brathay on to the falls at Skelwith Force. It’s a lovely, gentle walk with the Langdale Pikes behind you; Skelwith Bridge sits at the far end.
