St Oswald's Church (Grasmere)
St Oswald’s is Grasmere’s medieval parish church, and William Wordsworth is buried in the churchyard alongside members of his family — a plain plot that many visitors come to find. The building dates from the 14th century, enlarged around 1500. It still holds its annual rushbearing, when the floor is strewn with fresh rushes. A short walk from Dove Cottage, and open and free.
