Dora's Field
Local highlightCome in early spring and Dora’s Field is a sheet of wild daffodils on the slope beside Rydal church. William Wordsworth planted them here in memory of his daughter Dora, who died in 1847, and they have naturalised ever since. It’s a small National Trust field with open access and no charge, right next to Rydal Mount where the family lived. Best in March and April; quiet and low-key the rest of the year.
