All Saints’ at Brixworth is often called the largest and most complete Anglo-Saxon church in England, built around 680 with Roman brick reused in its arches. The village around it is large and busy these days, set on high ground above Pitsford Water, the reservoir just to the south-east with its nature reserve and lakeside cycle track. Northampton station is about 10km south.
