The oldest surviving garden gnome in Britain lives at Lamport Hall — ‘Lampy’, the lone survivor of a set that Sir Charles Isham brought back from Germany and set into the tall rockery he raised against the house around 1847. The Ishams held Lamport from 1560 until 1976. Beyond the rockery there’s a box parterre and quiet lawns, and the hall opens for tours and garden days across the season.
