Kelmarsh Hall is an Anglo-Palladian house built to James Gibbs’s design around 1730, its curved pavilions framing the entrance forecourt. The gardens came later: Nancy Lancaster, who lived here in the 1920s and 30s, planted the herbaceous borders on the advice of Norah Lindsay, and the walled garden still fills with dahlias each summer. Open seasonally from spring to autumn, with paid admission to the house and gardens or the gardens alone. Market Harborough station is about 8km to the north.
