Borth runs as a single long street down a shingle-and-sand spit north of Aberystwyth, sea on one side and the raised bog of Cors Fochno on the other. At very low tides the stumps of a drowned prehistoric forest show on the beach. The dunes of Ynyslas run out to the Dyfi estuary at the north end, and trains stop in the village itself.
