RSPB Ynys-hir spreads across estuary, wet marsh and hillside oak woodland on the south side of the Dyfi, and was the filming home of BBC Springwatch for several years. Trails and hides take in the different habitats, good for lapwing, redstart and wintering geese. There’s a visitor centre and car park; Dovey Junction station is under 3km away, though it’s a request stop with only a handful of trains.
