St Cadfan’s at Tywyn holds the Cadfan Stone, a carved pillar from the ninth century or earlier bearing what’s reckoned the oldest known writing in the Welsh language. The church around it dates in part to the twelfth century, low and solid, with the stone standing inside near the tower. Tywyn station is a few hundred metres away.
