Nant-y-moch is a big upland reservoir in a fold of the Cambrian Mountains below Pumlumon, reached by a lonely minor road up from Ponterwyd. There’s little here but water, moor and a scatter of wind turbines, which is the appeal: open-access hill-walking straight from the roadside and almost no crowds. Take everything you need with you, because nothing is provided.
