This 17th-century inn at Ponterwyd takes its name from George Borrow, who tramped through on the walking tour behind Wild Wales (1862). It sits high in the Cambrian Mountains on the road east from Aberystwyth, a base for the hills and reservoirs around, with Devil’s Bridge and its falls a few miles south. Bow Street station is about 13km west on the coast side.
