Thomas Johnes laid out Hafod in the late 18th century as a picturesque landscape in the Ystwyth valley, cutting waymarked walks through the woods to link its cascades and carefully framed views. The mansion is long gone, but the paths and waterfalls have been restored by Natural Resources Wales and the Hafod Trust. Free to visit, up the valley from Devil’s Bridge.
