The Oldest Sweet Shop in England has traded on Pateley Bridge high street since 1827, a claim Guinness World Records has recognised. Inside it’s rows of glass jars — sherbet, humbugs, rhubarb-and-custard and the rest — weighed out by the quarter. It’s a lovely small shop rather than a big attraction, free to wander in and open most days. Stump Cross Caverns is up the moor road if you’re making a day of Nidderdale.
