Middlesmoor clings to a hilltop at the head of Nidderdale, its steep cobbled lanes climbing to a church with a long view back down the dale over Gouthwaite Reservoir. It’s a genuine end-of-the-road village, with the high moors and Scar House Reservoir beyond. Lofthouse sits just below in the valley. A breezy perch well off the tourist run.
