Approximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.

How Stean Gorge is a limestone chasm in Nidderdale, in places over 20 metres deep and threaded with footpaths, footbridges and low caves. You can walk it gently along the walkways, or take it on as a booked activity — gorge scrambling, caving and a via ferrata clipped to the rock face. There’s an admission charge for the gorge itself, with activities booked separately, and a cafe at the entrance. Wear shoes with grip, as the paths get wet and slick. Skipton is the nearest railway station, about 25km south-west.
