Calum MacLeod spent roughly ten years building this road by hand — pick, shovel and wheelbarrow — after the council declined to. It runs about two miles from Brochel to Arnish at the north end of Raasay, where he and his wife were the last folk still living. You can drive the single-track today; it’s steep and twisting, and Raasay is a short CalMac hop from Sconser on Skye.
