A community-run barrel sauna at the water's edge on Shore Street, Applecross, with a panoramic window over the Inner Sound

A group of Applecross friends came back from a trip to Norway set on building a sauna, and raised the money through grants, crowdfunding and events. The wood-fired barrel now stands at the water’s edge on Shore Street, and cold dips are straight into the sea. Up to six share a session. The Applecross Sports and Wellbeing Association, a community interest company, runs it.
