Approximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.

A restored Georgian mansion set above the pier on Raasay, the small island off Skye’s east coast, now run as a hotel and activity centre. The bar and restaurant are open to day visitors as well as guests (dinner needs booking ahead), so you can base yourself here for kayaking, climbing and walking, or just stop in for lunch with a view over the Sound. The restored walled garden is in the grounds. Getting there means the short CalMac ferry from Sconser on Skye.
