Sligachan is really a crossroads and a hotel rather than a village, but a famous one — where the roads from Portree, Broadford and Dunvegan meet, right at the foot of the Black Cuillin. The old stone bridge here, built by Thomas Telford in the early 1800s, is one of Skye’s classic views. The hotel has long been a base for climbers heading into the mountains, and now brews its own beer as well.
