Three broad waterfalls where the River Ure steps over limestone shelves through wooded Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales

Aysgarth Falls are three separate waterfalls — Upper, Middle and Lower — strung out along about a mile of the River Ure as it drops over wide steps of limestone in Wensleydale, in the Yorkshire Dales. None is especially tall, but they are broad, and after heavy rain the river thunders over them in a sheet of peaty brown water. The falls and the wooded banks around them, including Freeholders Wood by the Lower Falls, are protected as a site of special scientific interest (an SSSI, meaning a place safeguarded for its wildlife or geology). Short paths link the three from the visitor centre near Aysgarth village. The Lower Falls stood in for a fight scene in the 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, if that jogs a memory.
