Widely rated one of the prettiest villages in the Dales, West Burton spreads around an unusually long green that slopes toward Cauldron Falls, a cascade tucked behind the houses that Turner sketched on his Yorkshire travels. It sits just off the main Wensleydale road where Bishopdale and Waldendale meet, which keeps it quiet. Aysgarth and its own falls are a mile to the north.
