Holy Trinity stands more or less on its own in quiet Coverdale, beside the ivied ruins of the medieval Coverham Abbey. The church itself dates from the 13th century but was declared redundant in 1985, so it’s no longer a working parish church and opening can be hit and miss. Worth knowing that the abbey remains are on private land with no public access, so admire them from the lane. The nearest railway is a long way off at Northallerton.
