Better known for its kitchen than its bar, the Wensleydale Heifer at West Witton is a renowned seafood-led dining inn with its own smokery and a set of boutique rooms — well worth booking ahead for dinner. A surprising find this far from the sea. Nearest station is a distant Garsdale, some 27km west, so most guests drive.
