The Forbidden Corner is a walled garden full of tunnels, follies and deliberate dead-ends in Coverdale, near Middleham. Built as a private folly and later opened up, it’s designed to be got happily lost in — an underground network, hidden chambers and plenty of tricks to catch children and adults out. Entry is by pre-booked ticket only, in timed slots, so sort tickets before you set off. It’s a fair drive from anywhere; Leyburn is the nearest town, and Northallerton the nearest station, roughly 28km east.
