Redmire is a green-centred village on the north side of Wensleydale and the current western end of the heritage Wensleydale Railway, which runs steam and diesel trains down to Leeming Bar. Castle Bolton and its fortress stand just up the hill, and Leyburn is a short way east. There’s a small old church out in the fields and a pub on the green.
