After a walk in lower Wensleydale, the Blue Lion at East Witton is a lovely place to land — an eighteenth-century inn with flagstone floors, oak tables and big open fires, long known for its cooking. It leans more towards restaurant-with-rooms than village local, so book ahead if you want dinner. Northallerton station is a good 23km east.
