The University of Oxford’s arboretum spreads over 130 acres at Nuneham Courtenay, grown up around a collection of North American conifers. Some of the giant redwoods arrived from California in the late 1850s and are among the oldest in the country. A bluebell wood carpets the old oak woodland from late April, and there’s a wildflower meadow for summer. Paid entry; Radley station is under 3km to the west.
