Jerome K. Jerome sent his three men ashore here in Three Men in a Boat, calling the Barley Mow the quaintest old-world inn on the river. The low thatched building still stands by the bridge at Clifton Hampden, a short way from the Thames, with beams so low you duck. It’s an everyday food pub now, much changed inside. Culham station is about 2km west.
