A picturesque landscape garden above the Thames, laid out from the 1770s by Capability Brown with the poet William Mason, who added the flower garden and framed the views back to the Oxford spires. The Palladian house belongs to Oxford University and runs as the Brahma Kumaris’ Global Retreat Centre, so the grounds open only on occasional advertised days rather than freely. Radley station is under 2km to the north-west.
