Grimsthorpe wears a grand baroque north front that Vanbrugh added in 1715, fronting a much older house northwest of Bourne. Capability Brown shaped the surrounding park of lakes and pasture, and closer to the house there’s formal topiary, herbaceous borders and an ornamental kitchen garden — an early potager, planted in 1965. Park and gardens open seasonally, with Stamford station about 14km south.
