Emily Meynell Ingram built this church between 1872 and 1876 in memory of her husband Hugo, who had died the year before, and spared no money doing it. The architects were G.F. Bodley and Thomas Garner, and Holy Angels is reckoned among Bodley’s finest work: a soaring Gothic Revival interior of stone vaulting, carving and gilding, set in a small hamlet where you least expect it. Grade I listed and open to visitors. Rugeley Trent Valley is the nearest station, some 9km south-west.
