A village of timbered cottages where the River Trent meets the Trent and Mersey Canal, Alrewas makes an easy base for a towpath walk. The National Memorial Arboretum sits just to the south-east, so the two pair well for a day out. Lichfield Trent Valley station is about 6km to the south-west.
