A memorial on Cannock Chase to the thousands of Polish officers and citizens murdered by the Soviet secret police at Katyn in 1940. It was raised by the Anglo-Polish community and unveiled in 1979, set in pine and birch woodland said to echo the forest where the killings took place; stone from Katyn and soil from Warsaw are built into it. It stands a short way from the German and Commonwealth military cemeteries on the Chase. Open access. Rugeley Town station is close by.
