Winston sits high above the Tees with wide views across the valley. Its single-arch stone bridge, built in 1763, was once said to have the longest span of any bridge in Europe, at over 110 feet. There’s a village pub and an old church with a Norman tower. A peaceful spot between Barnard Castle and Darlington.
