Stockbridge is a well-heeled but relaxed neighbourhood just north of the New Town, on the Water of Leith. It’s known for its independent shops, delis and cafés, and for the Sunday market down by the river. The Water of Leith walkway links it to Dean Village one way and the Royal Botanic Garden the other, so it makes a good base for a wander. Have a look at the Colonies too — rows of little terraced workers’ cottages by the water.
