The Doric occupies a 17th-century building on Market Street, just below the Royal Mile and opposite Waverley station. There’s been a bar and bistro trading here since the 18th century, and it keeps a cosy, wood-panelled feel over a couple of floors, with a wine bar upstairs. A reliable spot for a meal or a drink right in the middle of the Old Town, and about as close to the train as a pub gets.
