The Cafe Royal is a grand Victorian bar just off the east end of Princes Street, and one of the most ornate pubs in the city. The big draws are the Doulton tiled portraits of famous inventors around the walls and the island counter in the Circle Bar; the neighbouring Oyster Bar still does seafood. It’s a gorgeous room, so it gets busy — worth a look even for one drink. A short walk from Waverley station.
