Sandy Bell’s on Forrest Road is one of Edinburgh’s great folk-music bars, and has been since the 1920s. There’s live traditional music most nights — fiddles, whistles and singers crammed into a small, unfussy room — and it played a real part in the Scottish folk revival. Turn up, get a pint, and stand where you can. It’s just south of the Old Town near the university and the Meadows.
