Two stone crosses stand on the long green at Linby, a stone-cottage village near Hucknall. The Top Cross is medieval, with an unusual seven-sided base; the Bottom Cross dates from 1660, put up to mark the Restoration. Streams called the Linby Docks run down each side of the main street towards the River Leen. Byron lies in the family vault a couple of miles south at St Mary Magdalene in Hucknall; Hucknall station is about 2km away.
