A wide street lined with horse chestnuts runs up through Elmley Castle to the church and the foot of Bredon Hill. The castle it’s named for has gone — only earthworks remain on the slope above — but the timber-and-thatch cottages and a pair of old stone crosses make it one of the prettier villages under the hill. Evesham is the nearest station, about 6km to the north-east.
