At the Dissolution the townspeople of Pershore bought the choir of their abbey for £400 to keep as the parish church, and it still stands: the stump of a great Benedictine building, crowned by a fourteenth-century lantern tower. Around it spreads a handsome Georgian market town on the Avon, good for a wander. Pershore station is about 2km north of the centre.
