Overbury Court’s ten-acre garden sits behind the Georgian house the banker John Martin built around 1740, in parkland landscaped in the Capability Brown manner below Bredon Hill. Formal lawns run down to a chain of rills and ponds under old plane trees, with a newer column garden, designed in 2005, draped in wisteria come June. It’s still the Martin family home rather than a general-admission attraction: the National Garden Scheme lists it as open by arrangement for pre-booked groups of ten to thirty, April to September.
