Turner painted the Crook o’ Lune, the great looping bend of the river just outside Caton, and it’s still a lovely spot for a riverside walk or a picnic. The village itself sits among woods and farmland in the Lune valley, with a well-known farm shop and easy access to the cycleway along the old railway line. Lancaster station is about 8km to the south-west.
